Prerequisites
Before you begin, check the following.
Checklist
- The hardware kit: camera, PoE injector, Recording Pi (+ SD card if not pre-imaged)
- A laptop on the same local network as the site
- An SSH client — built in on macOS and Linux; on Windows use PowerShell's built-in
sshor PuTTY - A LAN cable to reach the router/switch at the site
- The camera's admin username/password (shared fleet credentials — ask Comlink if you don't have them)
The camera
- RTSP, PoE-powered, ONVIF-compliant
- Powered via the passive PoE injector (48V) supplied in the kit — fed from the site's router/switch, not plugged into a router's own PoE port
- Shares the same local network as the Recording Pi so it can be found automatically
The Recording Pi
- Comlink-owned, mounted inside the router enclosure at the site
- Connects to the same network as the camera, over Ethernet
- Ships pre-imaged in most kits; if you received a blank SD card instead, see Raspberry Pi Setup for flashing instructions
Your laptop
- Only needed for initial setup — a browser to log in to the camera, and an SSH client if you're deploying software to the Pi yourself
- Same local network as the site during setup
