Comlink Camera

This guide covers setting up the camera and Recording Pi at a site.

You should have received a small hardware kit from Comlink: an RTSP camera, a passive PoE injector, and a Recording Pi (pre-imaged, or an SD card to flash yourself — see Raspberry Pi Setup). Everything needed is in the kit — no additional downloads required beyond what's linked in this guide.

Once set up, the Recording Pi automatically finds the camera on the network, records short clips when the safe sends a start/stop signal, and serves the finished clip back. No manual intervention is needed after the initial setup.

How it works

When the safe reports an event (door open, deposit, tamper), the Sensor Pi tells the Recording Pi to start recording. The Recording Pi pulls the video feed directly from the camera, tags it with the event details once recording stops, and makes the finished clip available for retrieval.

Getting started

  1. Check the Prerequisites — what you need before you begin
  2. Set up the camera — power it on and log in to configure it
  3. Set up the Recording Pi — connect it and deploy the software
  4. Verify the setup — confirm everything works end to end

If something isn't behaving as expected, see Troubleshooting.
